To My Loving Mom

Mom and Zar
A Mother’s love comforts like a breeze and shines ever so brightly like the sun.

You taught me how to walk, One baby step at a time
You always made sure that I am doing fine
Every step of the way, you held my hand
From the time I could crawl, until I can stand

When I grew up, I needed you less
You worried a lot that I would be a mess
I started to enjoy the company of my peers
I took you for granted and you shed a lot of tears

I broke your heart but I was too selfish to see
That I have become nothing like who you wanted me to be
I did everything my way and took advantage of my freedom
When I stumbled and fell, I remembered your words of wisdom

Now that I’m older, I look back and sigh…
“Those teenage years were crazy, Oh my!”
Parties, Lazy days, big and small lies just to have fun
I regret making you worry whenever I said “Be back at 1”

My life has changed when I was twenty-four
Finally said goodbye to childish behaviour
I feel great doing things that make you happy and proud
Your approval is something I can never live without

I am grateful to know the real beauty
Of having a mom who loves me dearly
We fought and reconciled, We laughed and cried too
My Mother, my best friend, I’ll always love you.
