As soon as I found out that I am pregnant, I googled a few skin care products that will help reduce stretch marks and unwanted belly itch. I’m lucky to have friends who were eager to share their own experience on some products they used during pregnancy. Three well-known products they suggested are Bio-Oil, Palmer’s and Mustela. I did my own research online and Palmer’s Stretch Mark Products are well reviewed and highly suggested by many moms. So I went ahead and purchased mine when I was about 2 months pregnant. There are mixed opinions regarding using such products during the first trimester but my obstetrician told me that it is fine to use it immediately.
During pregnancy, a lot of changes happen. Breast tenderness is very common after conception and some may even experience dryness on the nipples and itching areolas in preparation for your milk production. Palmer’s Nursing Cream can be used as soon as you experience dryness on your nipples during pregnancy. It has been part of my daily routine to apply this nursing cream after an episode of waking up with uncomfortable itchy breasts. According to many reviews I read online, this also soothes sore and tender nipples related to breastfeeding. I have yet to find out!
Palmer’s Body Lotion smells like Cocoa and Butter just exactly what the bottle says. During the first trimester, my sense of smell was heightened so I waited until I got back to my usual self, about 2 months and a half into pregnancy, when I started using this lotion. Though the product is thicker than the usual lotion, it keeps my skin, especially on my tummy, moisturized throughout the day without feeling sticky. When my tummy started getting bigger, right about mid second trimester, I had to apply a generous amount up to 3 times a day whenever I have a tight feeling on my skin.
As an alternate to Palmer’s Lotion, I use Bio-oil on some days depending on my mood really. No specific reason. Bio-oil is great to apply after a warm bath or shower. It can be used all over your body but of course it may also depend on the weather. It is a bit chilly here at the moment. I think it would be a bit uncomfortable to have oil on your skin during the summer unless it is tanning oil and you are by the pool.
